In the museum at the Catholic Mission - an example of the slave trade
Eine Mangoallee - angelegt von den ersten Missionaren 1870 - führt vom Strand, vorbei an einer kleinen anglikanischen Kirche und (seit 2008) dem Weiterbildungszentrum der Spiritaner zur katholischen Pfarrgemeinde und ihren Einrichtungen, vor allem einem Krankenhaus und der Marian Secondary School für Mädchen, der Handwerkerschule, sowie dem Museum.
Dort liegt auch das ADEM-Institut, eine Forbildungsakademie für Lehrer.
The avenue of mango trees was planted by the first missionaries. It starts at the beach, leads past a small Anglican church and (since 2008) the Spiritan Centre to the Catholic parish and hospital, the Marian Girls Secondary School, the Vocational Training Centre, the museum and the ADEM Institute Teacher Training College.

Das Gebäude rechts gehört jetzt zum ADEM-Institut. Es ist vom Ursprung her das "Old Fathers House", das Haus der ersten Missionare, die 1868 hier starteten.
Es waren Spiritaner, Mitglieder der Missionsgesellschaft vom hl. Geist, die überwiegend aus dem Elsaß kamen. Auch heute arbeitet in der Pfarrgemeinde ein internationales Spiritaner-Team.

The church
The building on the right belongs to the ADEM Institute. Originally it was the Fathers' House, built in 1868 by the first missionaries. They were Spiritans, members of the missionary Congregation of the Holy Ghost, most of them from Alsace. An international team of Spiritans still serves the parish.
